Was I There?

Husband writing his novel, which includes when we first met. Discussions follow. After forty plus years of marriage, memories. . .

Synchronicity, or maybe just plain old nostalgia, but this weekend is our forty-third anniversary.

And I’m writing, on my own stuff, paranormal and not.

So we’re listening to old Donovan (do not underestimate him) on vinyl, of course, and things came to my mind. Like the following poem:

He was there

before we knew each other

was I?

I have a memory , some

might call it a screen memory, or

cover

when we met, we sat in his Fiat

talking poetry, dreams, UFOs

was I there?

I remember him, Donovan

Hollywood Bowl, on a carpet

white shirt

was I there?

Later, dreams, missing time

Where were we?

Was I there?

Back in 2011, when I was writing for Tim Binnall’s site, I wrote the following:

Donovan in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl … Maybe

Memory and UFOs. Missing time. Conscious recall of astounding events. These memories affect the UFO witness, contactee and abductee in profound ways. The memories are vivid, full of emotional and spiritual import that brings life long changes to the experiencer.

Even missing time – which is no memory – is a sort of memory. You know you don’t remember; you remember that something strange happened before, and something strange followed, but what happened in-between? During that in-between state, something happened, something involving you. The memory of those moments exist, somewhere, outside yourself. Forever frustrating, until recalled. But at that point, can we trust the process that brought us to that moment of recollection? Do we just think we remember? How much of those memories are real? All, some, none?

I have a few memories that don’t involve UFOs or really, anything particularity high strangeness or paranormal and yet… there’s a nagging feeling with this category of memory that UFOs were on the edges of these events. Events that I can’t fully recall. They share some similarities with missing time.

For years I’ve had a vague memory of attending a Donovan concert at the Hollywood Bowl in 1969. I have a vivid memory of seeing him on stage. I remember standing up on a little rise, the night air around me, seeing him and hearing him. I don’t recall being with anyone, if I was, I don’t remember who I was with. And yet, I don’t remember anything else at all. Not going to the concert, who I went with, anything about the concert itself, or anything afterwards. I don’t know how I got there. I don’t remember anything. I’m not sure I was there. But I think I might have been.

Curious to know if Donovan ever did play the Hollywood Bowl in 1969, I found proof that he did on the delightful The Go-Go’s Notebook blog. He did play there in 1969. No way to prove if I had been there, but at least we know he was.

There’s no one I could ask about this; my father, who I was living with at the time, has since passed away. He’d be the only one who might know. I was pretty left on my own back then, so adults or others who might know if I had gone wouldn’t necessarily know. It wouldn’t have been unusual for me to attend a concert at the Hollywood Bowl, where I’d seen may concerts, or other places.

It bothers me of course, not knowing if something really happened or not. At least in the context of UFOs, there’s a “Well, that explains it” context. Missing time, not being able to remember, while seeing a UFO, all adds up to the strange. It’s strange to begin with.

I don’t have any memories of UFO experiences when I was a teenager, except for one other memory related event. A few years ago I was meditating, and looking at a landscape I had painted of Santa Cruz. My mind wandered to a night in Santa Cruz by a river. My father and some family members were camping; in that meditative state I could vidily remember the smell of the water as well as the sounds, the cold air…and in the painting/memory, a stationary “star” began to move, zooming in towards us. I have a lucid moment, saying to myself “That didn’t happen when we were there!” I heard a voice outside of myself, speak to me inside my head that I “knew it was a UFO and I had better stop playing games” with myself about the reality of that memory. Then I was jolted back to the reality of my bedroom, the painting, and current time.

Was this memory of attending a Donovan concert related to this Santa Cruz event? Cover memories and games with time, and, location? As weird as this hazy memory realm is, it isn’t unheard of or unusual with UFO witnesses. Whitley Streiber is among witnesses who’ve shared their experiences of almost dreamlike memories that were not dreams, yet… some shadowy thing has happened to distance the witness from the event. Why?

Jim (my spouse of these many decades) and I have had many paranormal and UFO experiences; separate, in our childhoods, before we knew each other, as well as during our relationship. One example: the orange orb sighting, with missing time.

Was the Orange Orb a Big Ol’ Plasma Ball?

I won’t say “just” a plasma ball. As if the label “plasma ball” decides the thing. Explains it all. It doesn’t.

I Googled “is plasma intelligent?” and the first thing that popped up was this, from the Solar Ancestor site.

Some believe that UFOs are sometimes really craft made of plasma – while others suggest that ‘light orbs’ are intelligent beings whose form is composed of plasma. Since plasma is considered a fourth state of matter (beyond solid, liquid and gas), any intelligent consciousness that used plasma as its body would be considered to be Inter-Dimensional (ID).

Andrew Collins, in his book Light Quest, has proposed that natural plasma emissions play host to, or are the vehicles of  intelligent life forms – light-beings or electric-beings – who use plasma for temporarily manifesting into our dimension for short periods of time. The question he is unable to answer is whether they are native to planet Earth and/or from an adjacent brane (multiverse). My own understanding is that many (although not all) hail from our Sun and they do indeed dwell on an ID plane.

I don’t think all UFOs are plasma, come from the sun, or even within our solar system. Not all UFOs come from another dimension. Some come from within the earth, some from without; the point is, the answer to the UFO question is complicated. Which seems obvious and yet, this idea still eludes many.

Including the idea of some UFOs being intelligently controlled plasma balls. There is a lot of interesting information out there that suggests what I saw that night on Lorane Highway in Eugene, Oregon so many years ago was just plasma. And maybe it was.

But then, I get stuck in all the other stuff. The UFO sightings I’ve had since childhood, which were decidedly un-plasma like. The entities. The aftermath of the Orange Orb plasma (?) sighting. (psychic events, in particular, synchronicities, a spate of UFO sightings from all over reported by friends, etc.)

How do the childhood experiences — and post Orange Orb sightings — factor into the “intelligent plasma” theory?

I don’t have the answer to that. It’s possible that these things operate concurrently on different levels. Seems contradictory, but, anyone who’s studied UFOs and the paranormal knows contradictions are one of the main elements in the Realm of the Weird.

Here’s a post I wrote for my Orange Orb blog on Blogger, back in 2015:

UFOs, Orange Orbs, and Luminosities

The UFO Box

A life long experience with UFOs and what I’ll call loosely paranormal events has found me endlessly curious about what I call my Orange Orb encounter. I have assumed all these years that what I saw that night was a UFO. To be technical, it was a UFO: unidentified, flying — or at least, moving through — the sky, and it was an object of some kind. But was this “UFO” from outer space? Another planet? Was the orb inhabited, or operated by, some sort of non-human entity? As in, aliens? I have no idea. Being mainly immersed in the UFO category of anomalous events, I have always put this sighting into the UFO box. This box included the aliens or ETs, as well as human manipulated episodes; MILABS, for example.

I’ve discussed my orange orb sighting many times via blog postings, articles and podcast interviews, but to very briefly recap:  Riding on the back of a motorcycle. at night on Lorane Highway in Lane County, Oregon. Saw a lit from within orange orb in the night sky, a large object. It was stationary, as soon as I looked at it and thought “What the hell is that?!” it “zoomed” from its position (I guessed it was about a mile away, above the KVAL TV station at the top of the hill) to right across the road. I had the distinct feeling it was laughing at me, or, with me. Playing with me. It followed us to the intersection where we turned the corner to our home. The orb stopped once again in the sky above a neighbor’s house, then dropped down into their backyard.  (There was also missing time involved with this sighting. My husband saw the object only briefly.)

While I’ve always referred to this as an orb, due to its shape (round, sphere, circular) I never meant orb as in something nebulous. Not a spirit orb. Again, still in the UFO box, and, a somewhat nuts and bolts UFO box. After all, it was an object, a craft, a lit from within round thing. A machine with a light inside.

Orange Orb Above Lorane Highway, pastel drawing, Regan Lee

Through the years I searched for similar sightings. Nothing on orange orbs for a long time. Now of course orange orb sightings, as well as red, green and blue, are plentiful. People have captured these colored lights in the skies on video. But they rarely seemed to match up with what I saw that night decades ago. Usually these orange and other colored “orbs” are much smaller, sometimes don’t exhibit any kind of intelligence, and don’t behave quite the same way. Due to their shape, we call them orbs, but that  often seems to be the only similarity.

There is the category of spirit orbs, ghosts, that are smaller than my orange orb sighting, and don’t fit the category. Or so I’ve always thought. I am no stranger to ghostly encounters and have captured an orb or two myself but have never put that into the UFO box. Completely unconnected. Again, size differs greatly: spirit orbs are small. They do appear in different colors, including orange. But their connection to UFOs? Apples and oranges. But now I’m wondering if, at times, there are cross overs between UFOs and the more ephemeral  types of orbs.

Orbs as Luminosities

In the book Beyond Photography: with Orbs, Angels and Mysterious Light Forms, by Katie Hall and John Pickering, they talk about “luminosiites” — their word for lights and orbs that appear in the sky.

This photograph from their book is very similar to what I saw years ago. While what I saw appeared larger, it’s appearance as well as its behavior is close to my experience:

Missing Time

I mentioned that my orange orb sighting included missing time. This missing time is not at all unusual in UFO cases. Is the missing memory an amnesia implanted by aliens? If we stay in the UFO Box the answer would seem to be yes.

But if the UFO is also a luminosity in some cases maybe it’s a part of being in the “zone” — that area in the Oz Factor that researcher Jenny Randles wrote about. Why is it that most spectacular of UFOs can appear, complete with alien beings and all kinds of phenomena (including missing time) and only one or two witnesses will experience those things? Others close by don’t see a thing. They remain unaware that anything strange happened at all. This zone of weirdness, this “Oz Factor” is present in so many UFO encounters. Randles Oz Factor can also be found in many other anomalous events, which seems to support a cross over effect, or, a single source manifesting as many things.

Randles theory makes sense in terms of many a UFO encounter, and it also makes sense in other types of encounters. I’ve had that same strange “cone of Oz-ness” in other supernatural situations, but not UFO related, in an episode where we were discussing Bigfoot. (Although, the discussion did include a Bigfoot-UFO witness…) If the source of all this is a single source, that could explain cross over cases. Again, this is not to say there aren’t literally aliens (I believe there are, in fact) and UFOs from space, but that, in many cases, what appears to be a UFO and or alien isn’t. Also, UFOs/aliens and luminosities or “spirit orbs”  interact with each other.

Sentient Orange Orbs

I had said that my orange orb seemed to be intelligent — either controlled from within, or remotely by an intelligent, sentient being. The orb responded to me; I had the strong feeling it was waiting for me, could read my thoughts, and was playing with me. It was as aware of me as I was of it.

Hall and PIckering write of this same type of communication in their book. Relating the experiences of UFO researcher Tony Dodd and his orange orb encounter:

“…Dodd…affirms that many of his own encounters with mysterious balls of lights left him in little doubt that they were intelligent, or intelligently controlled. . . on the Yorkshire moors at night, … a large orange coloured ball of light glided about 30m feet above his head. As it passed, he tried to send out his thoughts to it; asking it to acknowledge his presence.  Whereupon it immediately stopped in mid air, blinked out for about 3 seconds, and the reappeared. Taking this as a response, Tony then thought the question: “Who are you?” (Beyond Photography, Hall and Pickering, p 93.)

To which the orb replied, telepathically, “I am the father of fathers and you are the sons of sons.” Typical trickster type behavior! (This also mirrors Marian apparitions; there is a hint of the religious here —  the authors have a section on Fatima and orb consciousness.) We  also get this silly kind of response from many a UFO connected entity.

In writing about orbs, or “luminosiites” the authors of Beyond Photography mention the intelligence behind these orbs. Often, the orbs seemed to respond to human thought; mind reading orbs, one could say.  Another case reported by Hall and Pickering:

Friends of the authors had an encounter with orange orbs in 1997. Two orange orbs, one the size of “a grapefruit” flew at their car at night while they were traveling on an isolated highway. Shortly after the first orb, another orange orb appeared, flying alongside their car. Their friends told them that “…in retrospect they both felt as thought the orange balls were checking them out for some unknown reason.” (Beyond Photography, p 94)

Plasmas, Ball Lighting and Consciousness

For decades “ball lighting” has been a throw away explanation for these balls of light.  As if giving them a label resolves the phenomena. Hall and Pickering have no argument about the fact these orbs are often plasmas, and or “ball lightening” but that is not all there is to these intelligent, interactive orbs.

While a physical reason may exist for the existence of these orbs, it does not explain their intelligence, their intentional movements, synchronicity, and their responses to human thought. Hall and PIckering write, of plasma and the intelligent behavior of orbs: “We now have two possibilities; plasma energy and luminosities with consciousness.” (Beyond Photography, p 96)

The Oz Factor implies that the UFO close encounter has a visionary component. You might interpret that as meaning it is all in the imagination, but it really means that there is a direct feed, if you like, from the source of the encounter to the consciousness of the witness. (Jenny Randles, The Oz Factor)

This idea of sentience, of a non-human intelligence that is UFO related interacting with us is nothing new. Jacque Vallee suggested this decades ago with his ultra terrestrial hypothesis. But it seems that, even with this history from many researchers of exploring such a connection, the UFO community is still missing this huge piece of the puzzle.

Entities, ET, Djinn, Angels, and, Oh My

Hall and Pikcering do not discount the reality of UFOs and aliens from other planets. For the purposes of their book, they are mainly concerned with so-called spirit orbs (as well as beams of light, humanoid type light figures, etc) captured on film. Are these lights earth spirits, fairies, etc.? Are there sometimes cross over interactions between what we call aliens — meaning, ET entities — and more elemental beings? Spirit energy? What some of us call Djinn?

I still have no idea what it was I saw that night, why it happened, or  what it meant. I do know it was very important, and not a mere case of ball lighting, or some mistaken sighting of, say, a helicopter.

It’s possible that on that night so long ago I did not see a UFO in the classic sense, but had an interaction, not with an ET from another planet, but something else involving an earth based consciousness. Which makes this not any less fantastic, nor does it negate any of the other UFO experiences I’ve had.

It could be that these things — UFOs, entities,ETs, missing time, synchronicities, games, telepathy — are connected. Aspects of the various and often seemingly separate phenomena join in a performance, one where we’re surprised to find we’re witness to.

“Something makes them pay attention by tuning out the normal sensory flow and looking up to watch the show. Where that show is being projected from remains the subject of great fascination. And it certainly does not eliminate another intelligence as running this show. To me the Oz Factor is a vital key to the UFO mystery, and may help us to resolve what is happening. We should not be afraid of its implications, just because they seem to suggest a fuzziness to the phenomenon. In truth we should embrace these cases.” (Jenny Randles, The Oz Factor)

I’ve always wanted to seriously speak to someone about what I saw as a 3 or 4 year old. Only recently have I been able to find others who saw the same thing I did. I did not see a craft or a ship. When younger I would describle what I saw as a “little Sun”. Maybe 5 feet in diameter and suspended 8 feet above the ground. This had to have been in 1968 or 1969. Inside this bright orb I could make out shadows of “people”. As a little girl I reasoned that this was God/Jesus/Holy Spirit based upon my child’s knowledge at the time. My mother, aunt and many people on our street at the time saw this orb during the dusk of the day. At first I remember being fascinated, but as my mother squeezed my hand and picked me up to run inside the house, I knew to be terrified then. Haven’t seen anything since, and don’t think I would want to. Some people think that they would enjoy it, I am not one of them. I am grateful to be able to share this with someone because there is no one else I have ever been able to speak to about it. Thanks so much.

Oddly Curious, But Not Enough Be Truly Odd

sleepingcloud.jpg

The other night, a sound woke me up. I heard a fluttering sound. It was a very odd sound, because it was very loud. It sounded like a giant moth was in the room, or, right outside the window. (Our bedroom window was open.) Whatever was making this fluttering sound was one huge creature. Like man sized. The sound didn’t last very long; maybe ten seconds. Then the sound just abruptly stopped. I didn’t hear it again. I went back to sleep.

The next morning, Jim asked me if I heard that “weird sound” last night. I said “You mean the fluttering sound?” He said, “No, I didn’t hear that. But I heard this odd humming noise, very loud. Kept me up, lasted about twenty minutes.”

I didn’t hear that sound, just the fluttering.

We also woke up later than usual that morning. Slept right through. Normally, we’ll wake up a couple of times, look at the clock, say to ourselves “Hmmm, another hour to sleep” and go back to dreamtime. That morning, nothing. We were out.

Seems like nothing much, but some things nag at me in the context of the Fortean/UFO Land/Goblin Universe realm, and I just throw these little episodes on the data pile.

Two Dreamers, No Memories

dreamingpixabay.jpgDreams. An amazing, intriguing realm. Readers of this blog know my fascination with dreams.

So last night, I had an incredible dream. Profound, trippy, important. The feeling of the dream is still with me. So damn important! I know this for a fact. And yet, how can this be, since I don’t remember the dream itself? Fascinating.

Adding to the fascination factor, is what Jim told me this morning. That he, too, had an incredibly amazing important dream. He knows it was simply astounding. But, he can’t remember a thing about the dream itself.

“Maybe we met each other out there,” he said to me, when we talked about this.

Who knows. Could be.

Old Files: Don Worley in UFO Magazine (?), Shared Experiences

early90sUFO Magworley.jpg

I found this article by researcher Don Worley that I clipped from (I think) UFO Magazine.  (Strange World Abductees.) I neglected to label the article with date or source. The illustration is marked 1991 Richard Runnels, so possibly the article is from 1991.

Worley’s article is a collection of experiences by UFO witnesses and abductees.

One experience Worley relates  has echoes of things I’ve experienced. Abductee “Carol” age 62 at the time of the article, has had many encounters. An early encounter in 1931 in Indiana:

“…a big black dirigible-shaped craft slowly floated over their home. Beneath it was a big hook hanging from a rope or chain.”

The object “slowly moved out of sight” above their roof.

The following is a blog post from my Saucer Sightings blog (now defunct, but you can still read it on-line):

A recurring dream I had as a young child. Timeframe 1959, early 1960s. Los Angeles, California.  I had lots of dreams connected to alien, non-human beings, which included being floated out through walls and doors and placed in a large tree at night. There I’d sit/wait/watch the starry night sky…

halloweenairship.jpg

One recurring dream motif I remember has me standing outside, at night, on our block. Usually at the corner (near that large tree, that was easily three or four stories tall) which was at the corner. The tree belonged to our neighbor; we were the second house down from the corner. Waiting, outside, at night, sometimes I was with others, usually children. And up in the sky, not much higher than that tree, came the “ship.” Sometimes it was a giant basket, like the ones seen with hot air balloons. But no giant balloon; just the basket and something above that, like a dome thing, some kind of machine. Other times, instead of a basket, it was an over sized bathtub. Inside the baskets, or bathtubs, were one or two people, adults, in uniforms.

I had this dream many times. Always the same: at night, alone or sometimes with others, mainly children, in front of, or near, our house. Waiting. Waiting for what I thought of as my friends — these people in uniforms, in their floating bathtubs or baskets, were always pleased to see us. They took us away on purpose. This was a regular thing.

Another experience Carol had when she was eight concerns “an enormous hawk” :

…what seemed to be an enormous hawk soared in and landed unnaturally close to her in the pasture. Thisof course is contrary to the natural instincts of a hawk. She stood there looking at it and remembers nothing more. She doesn’t remember walking back to the house or the hawk flying away. [Worley]

I had an experience when I was very young; I must have been about three or four. This also appeared on my Saucer Sightings blog:

The Open Ceiling and The Eagle:

Category:Childhood Memory, dreams, animals

Location: Los Angeles, California

Date: approximately 1958

There was a silver suited alien on the patio at this house on Corning Street, . . but before that:

Before that, . . . I’m lying on my back in bed. I remember this as vividly as if it happened this morning; I also remember this as a “dream” but it was so damn real, I told myself afterwards it was a dream, because it doesn’t make sense that it could be real.

I’m in bed, in the middle of the bed, which is huge, though in “reality” my childhood bed wasn’t huge. Flat on my back. I’m both excited — exhilarated — but also a bit scared, not understanding what’s going on. There’s some confusion; my father is here, and I don’t understand why. He doesn’t live with us and he wouldn’t be here at night. My father, mother and grandmother are standing in the doorway; they can’t come in for some reason. They’re watching, but something prevents them from coming closer.  There’s a lot of activity, but I’m in the middle of my bed, which is huge,I’m kind of spread eagled, I can’t move. I have a sense of being tied up, but I don’t see anything that’s tying me, but something is preventing me from moving.I feel both fantastic and a little disoriented. Lots of bright, bright lights; everything is lit up so white. I look up at the ceiling, and it opens up, opening from the center, two halves moving back to expose the nighttime sky, which is beautiful, full of inky blue and shimmering stars. I think this is a pretty neat trick. A giant eagle flies down from above; the eagle is so large, it fills the sky, fills the open ceiling. It comes down straight at me. I don’t like this too much. I’m not exactly frightened, but it’s not comfortable. The eagle takes me up into a silver disk type thing. That’s all I remember…

One last account from the article, involving a “red-orange” object Carol saw in 1964:

…Carol had dressed to go to a social function. Suddenly, a. large brilliant red-orange object began to hover across the street casting an eerie glow over everything. The neighbors and Carol’s daughter became very excited: however, they would still not believe Carol’s story – and refused to look at the object. [Worley]

Worley doesn’t mention if the object was an orb shaped UFO or not. The orange orb I saw in the early 1980s was large, though I don’t recall it casting a glow — just lit from within. If the object Carol saw was an orb, this is record of an early orange orb, and a large one at that.

The Blue Eyed Reporter

pixabaynytimes reporters.jpg

About twenty years ago, I was contacted by a young man who said he was a reporter for a newspaper in the town over. He wanted to interview me about my UFO experiences, particularly  my orange orb sighting.

I was attending the University at the time, and had been busy interviewing people about their UFO encounters as part of my folklore studies.  Word got around. So I wasn’t too surprised that this reporter contacted me. But for some reason, I get a weird feeling that something was odd about the whole thing whenever I think back on this. Something a bit MIB like about the experience.

We agreed to meet at a local Starbucks. He seemed very nice, polite. But also, a bit too … nerdy? Judgemental, I know. But too clean cut, too. . . just, out of place, almost, in his squeaky clean appearance. One thing I remember: his eyes. Round and shining blue. Very open to whatever I had to say, which was fine, but he kept asking questions. Questions. More questions. Of course that’s what he would do — it was an interview. But it just seemed a bit off, or something. One of those uneasy, nebulous feelings that doesn’t seem logical. Yet the uncomfortable thought that something was off lingers.

I never thought to ask him how he got a hold of me; how he got my contact info, etc. It could be I knew at one time; maybe he did mention how he found me. But I don’t recall.

He told me he was going to submit the interview to his editor, and let me know the status. I never heard from him. No such article appeared; his name never appeared anywhere, and, when I called the paper, they didn’t know who I was talking about.

Either a perfectly innocent encounter: young student (was he? not sure) who flaked out a bit, or got busy with other things, the newspaper simply rejected the article, things happen. Or, something a little stranger.

For years after the orange orb sighting, weird things did happen. Many more sightings. Synchronicities. Psychic experiences. Off the wall encounters  Over time, these experiences have lessened, but they still continue.

(I recently mentioned to Tim Beckley on his podcast that I wonder if some of this slow down in the realm of the weird has to do with either age, or gender; post-menopausal, maybe? But then, what would be the reason for that? )

The point is, some memories related to UFO experiences contain an element of unease. A nagging feeling there is more, a something else, that escapes us.

Astral – Synch: Wingless Winged Woman

I call upon a deity : the winged woman. I ask her for her help.  A couple of days go by, Jim and I are talking in the living room, and a woman strolls right on by. Where did she come from? Long dark hair, causcasin, maybe early 40s. Tall, almost six feet.

She’s the personisfication of the winged woman. She is the Winged Woman. Except, she does not fly, and exhibits no wings.

I am surprised to see her, to know that she appeared.  Her response:  “Well you called  me didn’t you? Here I am.” Clearly she thinks I am one silly human.

At first she is nice, seems harmless. Tells me she is here to help.

Night, we’re outside. .She seems even  taller now. Almost seven feet. She sort of sits curled up on a little pedestal (fire hydrant?) and her vibe seems different. A little more calculating.  Still no wings. But she is definitely “the Winged Woman.” Whoever, whatever, that is. I don’t like her. I’m sorry I every called upon her.

Now we’re back in the living room. I smell something burnig. I look up, on top of our tall bookcase are boxes covered in paper with little birds in them. Baby birds. She set the birds on fire! I can hear them squeaking and sqawking. It’s horrible! I take down the boxes, try to save them. The winged/wingless woman is outside, smiling a nasty smug smile. Tells me she’ll save the birds if I do what she says. When I try to protest she tells me  that “this is what happens when you call upon beings and aren’t sure what you’re doing.”

That last line: “This is what happens when you call upon beings and aren’t sure what you’re doing” is certainly a truism. Be careful of what you wish for. Indeed.

Earlier that day, I was thinking, for some reason, about the winged woman sighting in Vietnam. And then dozed off in my garden and awoke to the awful sounds of crows and jays fighting; the crows attacked the baby jays in the apple tree. Poor babies. I know, circle of life.  Also, lots of packing at work due to classroom moves. And I have a recurring theme of birds; long forgotten birds in cages, boxes, still alive, waiting patiently, and I’m always amazed they’re still alive.

Today, saw this item on the Anomalist: The Frightening Supernatural Story of the Black Bird of Chernobyl.

“According to the legend, rumours went through the ranks of Chernobyl, that five employees had seen a large, dark headless creature with gigantic wings and fire red eyes. Chernobyl employees began sharing strangely similar experiences, some had horrifying nightmares, while others received threatening phone calls,” Maxwell said.

“The second account I’ve heard of this story comes from 2007 which says that people in and around the power plant began to experience a series of strange events revolving around sightings of a mysterious creature — also described as a large dark and mutated creature with large wings and piercing red eyes.

“People affected by the phenomena also experienced nightmares and had first-hand encounters with the winged beast.

1969, Vietnam: Earl Morrison saw, along with his fellow soldiers, a winged woman. The following is from an item by Nick Redfern at Mysterious Universe:

“We watched her go straight over the top of us, and she still didn’t make any noise flapping her wings. She blotted out the moon once – that’s how close she was to us. And dark – looked like pitch black then, but we could still define her because she just glowed. Real bright like. And she started going past us straight towards our encampment. As we watched her – she had got about 10 feet or so away from us – we started hearing her wings flap. And it sounded, you know, like regular wings flapping. And she just started flying off and we watched her for quite a while.” [The Glowing  Winged Woman of Vietnam, Nick Redfern at Mysterious Universe.]vintagewingedfemale.jpg

Tell Me More About the Beeping Dear

Just read my post (see previous “My Mother’s . . . Abduction?”) to my spouse. He and I have had several weird UFO related experiences together, including missing time, as well as our own in childhood, before we ever met.

When I got to the part about my mother talking about “the beeping” and my own beeping sounds in my head, Jim says, casually, “I’ve had that beeping too.”

After forty plus years of marriage, you think you know it all.
