Live and Let Die

The virus…what to say? I take it seriously, this is nothing to take casually.  Aside from the virus itself, there is all the surreal and truly insane culture around the virus. I wear the masks and gloves and practice social distancing and leave the house only for things like groceries. (After my bout with pneumonia in the fall I am very careful.)

The bozo-nazis who storm state capitols while armed (and yet, often, masked) are unfortunately, yet understandably, thrown into the conspiracy crazy pot. Yet there is the obvious reality: the virus is intentional, and the manipulations by many in power are also intentional. The shadowy forces never tire. They are working feverishly away at keeping the virus culture alive. All the anxiety, frustrations, money problems, intense emotions, political and religious nonsense is kept alive by these forces. Conspiracy? Yes. So what. As the saying goes, just because it’s a conspiracy doesn’t make it not true.

It’s in your face time. rTrump visits a mask making factory — not wearing a mask, though  he is wearing goggles for some reason — while, get this, Live and Let Die plays in the background. Just one of many obvious we’re laughing at you, Jack, moments in the current global madness.

Do Octopi Dream?

I think they do. Some scientists think so too. I write a lot about dreams here at the Orange Orb, as readers know. Combine my intrigue with dreams and my love of octopi, and I’m in a very nerdy place on the astral plane.

“If she is dreaming, this is a dramatic moment,” Scheel said. “You could almost narrate the body changes and narrate the dream. She sees a crab and her color starts to change a little bit, then she turns all dark, octopuses will do that when they leave the bottom [of the ocean.] This is a camoflage, like she’s just subdued a crab and she’s just going to sit there and eat it, and she doesn’t want anyone to notice her.”

Donovan Concert: A Shared Experience — Maybe?

donovan69.jpg

In 2011, I wrote the following piece for my Trickster’s Realm column at Tim Binnall’s site (Binnall of America.)  Donovan in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl . . . Maybe.

The other day — I don’t remember what it was that had me bring it up — but I mentioned this column to my spouse, Jim. Jim told me he didn’t know about the article: “You never mentioned that,” he said. (We usually read each other our stuff.) I was surprised, but anyway, he read the item. Afterwards he said: “That is very strange.” Pause. “Weirder still, I was at that concert.”

!

Married over forty years, and I never knew that!

Another weird synchronicity, possibly, remotely, related to UFO type events. Jim and I had discovered years ago that we share many anomalous events, going back to childhood. All of them connected, in some way, to UFOs.
